Micro Level

The micro approach, largely used since inception of the USAID-Izdihar, the predessor program to USAID-Tijara, continues to focus on assisting MFIs individually and will continue to be a priority work area. The micro approach will focus on the delivery to MFIs those things developed at the meso level such as:

• On-site advice given to MFIs to do credible strategic business planning using Microfin,
• Continue providing training in such subjects as management of delinquency and risk, Loan Officer skills, ethics, financial analysis, accounting, product development, and human resource management,
• Strengthen Loan Officer performance,
• Promote transparency and accountability through audits,
• Regular site visits to partner MFIs especially to monitor the use of U.S. $24.05 million sub grant funds USAID-Tijara has committed to them, and
• Complete a series of MFI operational assessments started in 2008.
