Al-Thiqa Small Business Fund is an Iraqi financial service provider registered under Iraqi law, which operates in Northern Iraq and Baghdad. It was established to provide financial services mainly to small and medium size businesses and enterprises.

Al-Thiqa provides loans to micro, small and medium size enterprises both in urban and rural areas to finance their working capital and investment needs, as well as real estate investment loans to individuals.

Size and term of loan products

Size and term of loans are mainly determined by the type and nature of business that the loan will be requested for

The minimum loan extended is US $ 500 and the maximum is US $ 25,000

Loan terms range between 12 to 18 months

New borrowers start with a loan amount up to US$ 5,000 and a maximum loan term of 12 months

The term for subsequent borrowers of SME and Housing loans can be extended up to 18 months

Loan repayments are to be in equal installments on monthly basis unless granted special consideration

Eligibility criteria to qualify for loans

The applicant must be at least 18 years of age

The applicant should be an Iraqi citizen and permanent resident of a designated area

The potential client should run a registered and legal business venture

The applicant should demonstrate proven capacity to repay the loan (ability and experience in managing business)

The applicant should be able and willing to provide a minimum of 20% of the total project cost as a matching fund

The ability to provide personal guarantee and / or physical collateral

The project or business should be less vulnerable to market instability and price fluctuations

Priority will be given to women-headed businesses

Charges and fees

The loan applicant pays an application fee upon submitting the loan application form

The borrower pays corresponding amount of service fee (Rasum) upon receipt of loan
